FIELD
MEDICINE

PROTECT • RESTORE • PRESERVE

Exploring the forgotten connection between martial movement, healing and the preservation of the self.
From the principles of Hichi Buko Goshin Jutsu to their modern application through Active Balance.

WHAT IS FIELD MEDICINE?

For centuries, martial and healing knowledge were not always viewed as separate subjects.

The ability to protect the body existed alongside the knowledge required to restore it — movement, structure, breathing, recovery, awareness and understanding the human being as a whole.

Field Medicine explores this relationship through principles inherited from Hichi Buko Goshin Jutsu and the Amatsu Tatara heritage, transmitted through Toshitsugu Takamatsu and Dr Masaaki Hatsumi, together with more than fifty years of Dennis Bartram’s clinical and martial study.

PRESERVING THE KNOWLEDGE — NOT FREEZING IT IN TIME

Dr Masaaki Hatsumi emphasised that the important thing was not simply what had been written in the old scrolls, but how that knowledge could be understood in the present and carried forward.

As our environment changes, so too must the way we understand health, movement and protection.
